We realise that Vietnamese students face three common problems: students in big cities have more access to qualified teachers; students are not provided with personal learning paths in traditional classes ; and students are not familiar with using the Internet for active-learning purposes. For the betterment of young generations' future, we create an online learning platform named Hocmai.vn, with the aim of promoting a lifelong learning spirit among students and contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnamese education.
The online learning platform Hocmai.vn is a management and organization solution for online teaching and learning activities. Hocmai.vn allows teachers to design, publish online lectures and organize online courses, while ensuring that all students in classes 1-12 (K12) have access to high-quality teachers and receive suitable personal learning process. As a result, students can enhance their learning abilities and overcome the fear of periodic exams and academic assessments.
Hocmai.vn digitizes educational contents including video lessons, question and test banks for assessing learners, free online library, Q & A and discussion features, news and community connections. Those aforementioned contents are arranged according to students' study habits. Hocmai.vn uses adaptive learning engines to meet unique learning style of every student, as per the pace, size and style of learning. Students can acquire knowledge via multimedia lessons compiled and taught by teachers; develope their skills through exercises and online question banks attached to each lesson; have questions answered by specialized advisors through a multi-channel support system; discuss and exchange knowledge with other students accessing Hocmai.vn; self-assessment through the online testing and exam system.
As of July 2019, Hocmai.vn has delivered almost 70 learning programs, nearly 1,200 courses with more than 35,000 video lessons (20-60 mins per video lessons); an adaptive testing system with over 200,000 multiple-choice questions continuously updated; and a free e-library with nearly 10,000 learning material with over 50,000 visits per month.Launched in 2007, hocmai.vn is the first mover of online education for K12 in Vietnam and ASEAN region. Today 3.8 million students have registered and learned with Hocmai.vn.

Assessments and assignments which are personalized for every student, along with in-depth analysis and recommendations;
Hocmai.vn offers an engaging and effective learning experience, the learning program creates personalized learning journeys for individual students based on their proficiency levels and capabilities which helps them learn at their own pace and style;
Lessons integrated with smart games and impressive visual effects stimulates the learning spirits among students;
Students can connect with their peers and exchange knowlege in multiple online learning community via social networks such as HOCMAI learning forum, Facebook and YouTube. This helps students across all parts of the country easily make friends, discuss their learning lessons, share knowledge and update educational news;
Hocmai.vn provides the quality, equitable and inclusive education program for all students by applying cutting-edge technologies in learning and teaching, in line with the goal 4 of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.

1. Technical platform
The online learning platform Hocmai.vn is built and developed based on the combination of several systems, technologies and tools: Database: Mysql, MongoDB; Programming languages: PHP, Java, Nodejs, Javascript, Angular js, .NET Core, C #, ASP.NET; Middleware applications: nginx, apache, memcached,...; Operating system of application servers: Centos; Mobile application programming language: React Native; Open source to self-develop and customize products: Moodle
2. Content platform
To support learning and assessing students' abilities, the educational content of Hocmai.vn is built on the combination of the latest technologies and open source system and tools, including: CMS - Content Management System to provide education news; LMS - Learning Management System to manage learning content that deliver to student though LMS website and Learning Mobile App; LCMS - Learning Content Management System to create and manage content's creation such as question bank, lecture bank, materials; Shotcut and FFmpeg to edit video lessons; Audacity to edit audio in video lessons; GIMP to create and edit graphics in video lessons

By 2019, Vietnamese population has reached 94 millions and 16 million are K12 students;
55% of population under age 25.95 % of people aged 15-24 have access to the Internet and 73 % Internet users are under the age of 35 which are target age for online learning;
Annually Vietnam allocates about 8% of its GDP on education. As of December 31, 2018, Vietnam had attracted nearly 500 foreign invested projects in education sector with total capital of more than US$ 4 billion;
Online education market in Vietnam and ASEAN can be grouped into three major categories: The 1st group is specialized in foreign languages. English courses are still dominant, but those like Japanese, Korean, Chinese are on the quick rise. Customers of this group are getting considerably younger, thanks to earlier and better access to technology for children; The 2nd group is dedicated to K12 education covering school subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Literature, Biology, etc and test preparation for national and provincial examination; The 3rd group combines IT and soft skills online education. This group can be considered as ‘younger’ compared to the previous 2 groups, as Vietnamese have just paid more attention to such fields recently.
Hocmai.vn provides online education programs for students from grades 1 to 12 for all subjects following Vietnamese curriculum and education program. As of July 2019, Hocmai.vn is the online learning platform with the largest number of registered students in Vietnam with more than 3.8 million users with new users registered annually from 400 to 500 thousands new users. There is about 5% of Vietnamese students have registered and studied with Hocmai.vn to date. According to data from Similar Web in 2018, Hocmai.vn is the 176th most visited website in the world.
Hocmai.vn directly manages HOCMAI learning forum - the largest learning social network for students in the ASEAN region with more than 2.5 million members and 3 million visits per month.

For connecting and forming an online learning community, Hocmai.vn maintains HOCMAI Forum, Facebook fanpage Hocmai.vn Online and a YouTube channel with the same name. On these platforms, the professional team and students will discuss many other learning issues.
In order for students to be best prepared for their exams, Hocmai.vn has created News and Blog pages, helping students get up-to-date with continuous information about the education situation in Vietnam.

Hocmai.vn focuses on digitizing Vietnam education program on the internet. We have been developing more useful products which have the same model of Hocmai.vn and concentrate on information & communication technology (ICT) teaching programs and social skills programs for students.
Quali sono le aspettative future?/What are future expectations?:
As of July 2019, Hocmai.vn is the online learning platform with the largest number of registered students in Vietnam with more than 3.8 million users with new users registered annually from 400 to 500 thousands new users. There is about 5% of Vietnamese students have registered and studied with Hocmai.vn to date. According to statistics of the Similar Web 2018, Hocmai.vn was the educational website ranked No.1 in Vietnam and No.176 in Education category. The average users growth rate of Hocmai.vn is 46% and it is expected to be 61% by 2020. According to the trend of product growth, we expect Hocmai.vn will: (1) Promote SDG4 in 2030 agenda in education field at national and regional level, with the motto: ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. (2) Support the government agenda to increase access to high quality education to ethnic minorities, and investigate more compatible ways to implement this. (3) GJC 2019 creates favourable conditions for us to discuss and learn pratical experience from other international competitors. Thanks to this invaluable opportunity, we can propose initiatives to step by step enhance Hocmai.vn's quality in the future.

The word "Hocmai" in "Hocmai.vn" means "lifelong learning". We set this name with the aim of maintaining and developing our product to serve our social community forever. Hocmai.vn is constantly updated and improved to meet learning needs of students
